Stow Youth Baseball

SYB Mission Statement

Stow Youth Baseball strives to provide youth boys and girls from Stow, and the surrounding communities, with the opportunity to enjoy America’s favorite pastime. Children are provided with a structured, well-managed program, quality equipment and facilities, and selfless volunteers and coaches that enable this mission. On and off the field, they learn about the game of baseball, but also lifelong values such as discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship and achievement.

· Provide a platform for children of all levels to play and enjoy baseball throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall.

· Teach positive life values like discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship and dedication.

· Foster a competitive environment for earned achievement.

· Offer different baseball programs depending on age and skill/competition level.

· Develop baseball skills, and a path, for children who want to continue to play baseball for the Stow high school baseball program.

Founded in 1962, Stow Youth Baseball has seen thousands of kids come through our organization and play 'America's Pastime'. Many of the kids that have played in our organization have gone on to play for Stow-Munroe Falls High School, numerous colleges and even professionally. For more than 25 years, Stow Youth Baseball has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors of Stow-Munroe Falls High School that have had at least 2 years of participation in Stow Youth Baseball.

Led by Dr. Leo "Doc" Kline for 25 years as the SYB President, the organization grew to what it is today. In 1996, Doc broke ground on the Stow Youth Baseball Hall complex that houses a banquet room, batting cages, and baseball fields. Many kids have had instruction in the batting cages and played games on the fields. In 2019, SYB Field #1 was dedicated in Dr. Kline's name for his contributions to the organization. He also has been inducted into the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame and received numerous awards for his volunteer work to promote and encourage youth sports in the area.
